Is it time for a Shake Down here at TFD?
By this I mean is it time to "Flush Out" all of the Non-Posters, etc.?

It just seems like a good idea to me to get rid of possible spammers and members who joined erroneously.
Thoughts Anyone?

Define: Non-Poster?

Someone who has never posted? Someone who no longer Posts? Other?

Other than that, I say go for it.

All of the above. Normally we give warning to those who actually have posted before deleting accounts. As for people with no posts, we just generally get rid of them if they've been sitting there for a very long time.

Wouldn't that cause problems with those that posted their forum only? I'm just thinking that it may be rather counterproductive to say you have to be registered to post your forum, but when potential new forum admins look at the list a large majority would be listed as either Anonymous or Guest. Deleting those entries would seem to cause it's own problems in that you considerably reduce the size and effectiveness of the directory.

I am still ok with whatever decision, I just wanted to make you aware of some possible, unintended consequences.

Obviously deleting an account of someone who signed up to submit their forum is a bad idea, that's why we don't do it :lol:

But seriously, I see what you mean, but what I meant to say was people who signed up and posted (as a forum browser rather than a forum owner). It would be a bit OTT to rid the forum of forum owners lol Kind of hypocritical too in a way....

I would say - Any member that has never posted and really has not visited in a long while - if at all.
These should be deleted I think! :wink:

Well, it all depends.

There are those like myself that are busy with other projects and life in general that don't make it here too terribly often...then there are those who just do not post.

However, if they have their Forums listed, and don't post....I'd first see if they have a link to this site on their website or Forums. If so, I'd leave them. If not, then I'd make it a judgment call.

I know on my forums, I have some who sign up but rarely post...but there is information that they look at quite often. Could be the same here....??

Although I have always preferred forums over chats, I don't like to try and force people to post neither..as long as they enjoy the information provided I am fine with that. Now, if they obviously signed for no other reason that to promote their site and not have the courtesy to do the same for this one in return, then yes.

We are only getting rid of the "riff-raff" members who do not post and are suspect of not being a legitimate member.

Actually it wasn't closed due to our TFD shake down.
Princess closed The Coffee Shoppe herself due to greater demands on her at home, etc.

Almost all of our staff have been "called away" with personal duties now.

We are at a "Cross Roads" again!

Most of our staff met with personal obligations...
Slesh is disabled. (I wish her well)
Princess is called away by illnesses, etc., in the family. (hope things are better soon)
Deimenried - I assume he has gone into the Brittish Army!?!? (hope he can stop by sometime)
KnightTemplar is still with us but on a limited capacity - he's busy too! (Thanks KT for your continued vigil here at TFD)

Yep, still here, sortof. Unfortunately, as you said, busy. Working in the daytime, school at night, working on my forum (yes, I have returned to that) as I have time.
